In partnership with St Mary's University and Innu Nation Tshikapisk hosted a 4 week long training program in archaeology and caribou studies from September 19th to October 17th. For the first two weeks (timed to coincide with the presence of caribou at Kamestastin) the participants took part in a series of activities around caribou knowledge and Innu cultural practises. The second two weeks were devoted to instruction in ancient Innu history and heritage conservation and protection. The latter included archaeological survey techniques and the identification and protection of Innu historic sites. An important part of the program at Kamestastin during the September/October 2006 work involved youth "at risk" from Natuashish. Several new sites were identified during the program, of which two of the most important were identified by the Natuashish participants.

With funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Halifax's Saint Mary's University and the Innu Nation Environment Department will be running a three year educational program for Innu Nation Environment employees. Running parallel with this initiative will be a project called the Innu Youth Experiential Learning Project. In April 2006 Tshikapisk in association with and with the kind support of various Sheshatshit agencies undertook a spring skidoo journey to the north of Meshikamau. The intended destination was Kamestastin via Ashuapun (Border Beacon)with the end of the Orma Lake spur road being the jumping off point.

Those participating were Nikeshant Penunsi, Jonathan Walsh, Dean Douglas Rich, Mantushis Pone, Etienne Pone, Etienne Tshakapesh, Anthony Jenkinson,all from Sheshatshit and Drs Colin Samson and Jules Pretty from the University of Essex in the U.K.

The journey was sponsored and supported by the Charles J.Andrew Treatmment Center, the Shushepishipan Group Home, the Social Health Department of Sheshatshit, and the Child Youth and Family Services Office of the Provincial Government.

The Fifth World Archaeological Congress was held June 21 - 26, 2003 in Washington D.C., and Tshikapisk Foundation was there. Richard Nuna, Stephen Loring and Anthony Jenkinson presented two separate papers on Tshikapisk's work in the field of early Innu history.

In September and October 2005 Tshikapisk ran an archaeology training camp at Kamestastin. The participants were sponsored by the Sheshatshit Band Council and the program was one of several youth focussed initiatives which Tshikapisk worked with Sheshatshit to design after the local Council decided to apply funds towards youth programming, money which the community had received as a benefit under the Voisey's Bay Impacts and Benefits Agreement.
